Gerd Diet restrictions - What Foods Should You Avoid

[ad_1]

If you are one of the many sufferers out there who are dealing with GERD, you already know how painful it can be and how difficult a condition it can be to live with. Now there are a few things that you can do and which are going to help you avoid triggering your condition and keep it under control as best as possible.

More than anything you want to create a GERD diet plan for yourself. This way you will recognize what foods you should be eating and which you should avoid. More than any other GERD treatment this will have a huge impact on your condition, and so it is something that you are going to want to do right away.

GERD Safe Foods To Eat
A good heartburn diet should include foods that are nutritious, but foods that will not produce gastroesofagial reflux.  Some fruits are good to add to a GERD diet; these include apples and bananas.  Vegetables add nutrition so these should be chosen cautiously for a good GERD diet.  Broccoli, cabbage and carrots are nutritious foods that can be included also.  Chicken and extra lean beef can be included in a GERD diet.  Some cheese can be included in this diet including feta cheese and soy cheese.

GERD Foods To Avoid
Some foods should be definitely excluded in a GERD diet including any that have a lot of acid in them.  Tomatoes and oranges contain a lot of acid so these should not be included in a diet to avoid the acid reflux.  Mashed potatoes, French fries and raw onions can develop heartburn so these should also be avoided by those with heartburn tendencies.

Alcoholic beverages and those with caffeine should be avoided.  Sour cream, ice cream and cottage cheese could produce heartburn so these foods should be excluded by those suffering from reflux.  Chocolate, donuts and creamy desserts could trigger the acid rebound so these should be avoided by anyone worried about the implications.

Maintaining an acid/alkaline balance in the body using a proper diet is essential to your general health.
